Looking at the Christmas letters reminded me of my childhood Christmas, I never wrote to St. Nik like in the letters but I did believe in him , my mommy always told me about him even now I still believe in him . I know he isn’t physically real spending Christmas night flying to house to house giving presents but in sense he is to me but now as I have grown up a little I distaste this holiday, the music, the cheesy movies( I never like Christmas movies) the red and green all over the place. It is funny how when I was little I always like Christmas ,not for the presents but because it was always one of the few moments when all my family come together. It was special even if I never admitted it to my family , it made the holiday enjoyable, waking up and seeing the Christmas tree fill with wrapped presents underneath. Then seeing helping my mom make Christmas breakfast or dinner and the family would come over it and we played games and tell stories about the old days.
However, now those days seem far and forgotten bury with family drama and neglected promises of coming over. Now it just my sibling and I around the tree opening presents, I mean it still special and all but it not the same. I miss it dearly so much but I can’t bring the past to the present specially now ,since I am pagan I celebrate Yule and the Winter solstice. This year I missed the tree being put together this year because I was in school but I know I can help make dinner this year and share some of my Yule rituals with them for the first time . Last year I did them by myself so helpful so I am happy and excited to have my family be part of it. It just our little family loving one another and celebrating what we want to celebrate ,whatever that might be. My mommy over the years came up with different traditions to hold on to like fixing the tree together or building a gingerbread house with my nephews and cousins . It would always be a whole mess after we done building the house because of the icing and candy.
